Eric Church says "Desperate Man" may be his favorite album, and it's all because of "Some of It"

No Comments Country Music News

ABC/Image Group LAEric Church premiered the new video for his latest hit, “Some of It,” Saturday night before his marathon solo show at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.

When Eric was making his latest album, he recalls that “Some of It” was one of the first songs he took into the studio. But by the time Desperate Man was finished, “Some of It” hadn’t made the cut.

That all changed when Eric’s wife, Katherine, was previewing the new album for a friend, which she followed up with some of the songs that didn’t make the record.

“The first thing she played was ‘Some of It,’” Eric remembers. “And I hadn’t listened to it in a while, and it was always a favorite song of mine. It’s why it was the first one we took in.”

“And I listened to it that night,” he continues, “and went ‘I’m gonna regret if I don’t record this song.’ The… record was essentially done. I said, ‘I gotta do this. I gotta cut this song.’”

In the end, Eric believes “Some of It” makes Desperate Man stand out among his other efforts.

“I think it’s really interesting that the album took on an identity that allowed ‘Some of It’ to make it from where it started to where it is now,” he explains. “And it just fit in the dialogue. It fit in what the entire album’s talking about and, to me, it made the album.”

“I loved the album before it was on there,” Eric adds, “but it might be my favorite album now that it’s on there.”

Next up, Eric’s Double Down Tour continues June 28 with two nights at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington.

Riley Green will "Get That Man a Beer" to toast his new EP

No Comments Country Music News

Big Machine Riley Green’s new song, “Numbers on the Cars,” is just one of the tracks on his forthcoming EP, Get That Man a Beer, which is set to come out June 14.

The collection follows his debut #1, “There Was This Girl,” and Riley’s new single, “In Love By Now.” Look for a full album from the newcomer before the year’s end.

The Alabama native wrote “Numbers on the Cars” about both his grandfather’s struggle with Alzheimer’s and his love of NASCAR.

“Growing up near the Talladega Superspeedway I used to go over to my grandaddy’s house as a kid and watch the races,” Riley recalls. “He knew every drivers name, number and sponsor and so as the racing season kicks into full gear, it seemed like a perfect time to debut this song.”

This summer, Riley heads out with Brad Paisley on his World Tour, before joining Jon Pardi on his Heartbreak Medication trek in the fall.

The Valory Music Co.A week before the release of his fourth album, Thomas Rhett is unveiling the title track, which features his former tour mate and two-time CMA Fest co-host, Kelsea Ballerini.

“‘Center Point Road’ to me is very nostalgic,” TR reflects. “It’s about being young and thinking ‘This is as complicated as life is ever going to get,’ not realizing one day you move on to the next chapter and it comes at you quickly.”

“Kelsea and I have been good friends for years now,” he continues, “and with her growing up similarly in a Tennessee town, I knew she would relate to what we were writing about. She absolutely nailed it.”

Center Point Road is the name of the street where Thomas Rhett grew up, in the Nashville suburb of Hendersonville. Kelsea was born and raised farther east, in Knoxville.

Next Friday, TR will celebrate the arrival of his new album by playing the Today show’s concert series in New York City.

“Center Point Road” is available to stream or download now, or you can check out its lyric video on YouTube.
