Colder temperatures will be over the area to start the weekend on Saturday with scattered light showers Saturday that linger into Sunday. Warmer temperatures return early next week along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially on Tuesday. A few Storms Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning could be strong and produce heavy rain.

Tonight: Cooler. Cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers. Lows in the mid 50s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers. Highs in the mid 60s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday Night: Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Lows in the mid 50s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Warmer. Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers. Highs in the mid 70s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers. Lows in the lower 60s.

Washingtons Birthday: Breezy. Cloudy with chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 70s. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Monday Night: Cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 60s.

Heads up for next week: A potent system will sweep across Texas next Tuesday and Wednesday bringing the risk for strong thunderstorms and heavy rain. Some small hail and gusty winds could occur with some of the thunderstrorms given current projections. Stay tuned through the weekend on this developing system.
