By Music News Group

ABC/Image Group LA This Sunday, Carrie Underwood has managed to score one of the most high-profile gigs of them all: she’ll open Super Bowl LII with a new, recorded intro set to her latest release, “The Champion.”

Whether it’s the biggest match-up of them all, or NBC’s usual Sunday night game, Carrie says football is simply in her blood.

“I love being the voice of Sunday Night Football,” she says, “because I grew up watching football from birth! I mean, I’m from Oklahoma. We’re a football state. It’s just a part of the country that everybody has their teams, and we would drive down to Dallas and watch the Cowboys play whenever we could.”

The American Idol winner admits kicking off Sunday’s showdown between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles is special.

“Being a small part of that is absolutely amazing,” Carrie reflects. “And being a part of the Super Bowl is especially amazing, ’cause that’s just the biggest of the big.”

You can watch for Carrie’s new treatment of “The Champion” Sunday night starting at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

By Music News Group

CMTOn Thursday night’s new episode of Nashville on CMT, the romance between Deacon Claybourne and Jessie Caine deepens, with both parents juggling their kids’ schedules so they can spend the night together.

When the pieces finally fall in place, the memory of Rayna Jaymes keeps Deacon from consummating his relationship with Jessie. Ultimately, he realizes he’s feeling something significant for her, and implores Jessie not to give up on him.

Meanwhile, Maddie Jaymes is again caught up in a tabloid nightmare, as Jonah Ford’s ex strikes out at her on the internet. When Jonah comes to visit Maddie, the paparazzi follows, which only makes things worse. In the end, he impresses Maddie by being vulnerable, and stepping up to take her to the release party for his new EP.

Gunnar Scott, Will Lexington and Avery Barkley continue to pursue a career as a group, though they decide to add a female voice to the band. When they discover the talented singer Alannah, she also seems to spark Gunnar’s interests romantically.

Back at home, Avery and Juliette Barnes continue to butt heads in the aftermath of her revelation she’d been molested as a child. When self-help guru Darius Enright convinces Juliette that working at a mission in Bolivia is the path to healing, Avery’s opposition is at an all-time high. Though the couple seems to have made peace, by the episode’s end, it’s unclear exactly what decision Juliette has made.

Find out what happens next on the final season of Nashville, Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on CMT.

Stan Lee says, "I'm feeling great" after hospitalization

By Stephen Iervolino

ABC/Richard Cartwright(LOS ANGELES) — Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee was hospitalized Wednesday night in Los Angeles but the 95-year-old comic book legend tells ABC’s KABC that he’s out of the hospital and “feeling great.”

“I’m glad I spent that evening in the hospital. It did me a lot of good. It probably did my fans a lot of good. It kept me off their backs for the evening,” the 95-year-old Lee said. “But I’m feeling good now and I can’t wait to get in there and tangle with all the competition.”

On Thursday TMZ reported that Lee suffered shortness of breath and an irregular heartbeat and was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital, although the rep provided no details of Lee’s ailment.

Lee had a pacemaker implanted when he turned 90 — an upgrade that he joked at the time was akin to his co-creation Tony Stark’s life-saving arc reactor, which had been implanted in the hero’s chest.

Although the co-creator of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, The Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, the X-Men and other classic Marvel characters, canceled some convention appearances last year citing poor health, he did attend the premiere of the Black Panther movie Monday night in Los Angeles.

And Lee tells KABC that he’s looking forward to getting back to situations where he can meet with fans.

“It’s nice to know that somewhere in the world there are still people who care about what I say or do,” he said. “And it’s nice to know that somewhere in the world there are always people who are fans who care about what people do – the people they’re interested in.”

“And I think having fans is one of the greatest things. I can never say how grateful I am for it.”
